MYKONOS
JULY 12-15 2005

The first "Mathematics and Narrative" conference, sponsored by Thales and Friends, took place on the Greek isalnd island of Mykonos from July 12 to 15. The participants included mathematicians, historians, philosphers, writers, and artists from around the world, all leading specialists in their own fields. They were united only by the belief that mathematics has become too insulated from mainstream human culture, and the belief that narrative can provide a crucial link between the two.
